Fleet Overview: Sedans, SUVs, Stretch Limos, Party Buses & Sprinter Vans

luxury vehicle fleet

Not every trip calls for the same vehicle. A solo business traveler heading to a downtown meeting has basically nothing in common, logistically, with a 20-person bridal party trying to get from Midtown to Brooklyn without splitting into three cars. And in Manhattan — where the streets are narrow and curb space is practically a luxury — vehicle choice isn’t really a comfort question anymore. It’s more of a “will everyone actually get there together, on time” question.

At Empyralimousine, this is the kind of thing we help clients sort out constantly. So here’s a practical rundown of the five vehicle classes that cover most ground transportation needs in the city and, honestly, which one fits which trip.

Sedans

The default pick for solo or two-passenger trips—airport runs, client meetings, a night out, whatever the occasion. Sedans handle tight streets and stop-and-go avenues better than anything bigger, and they’re the easiest class to book last-minute. Usually 1 to 3 passengers, plus standard luggage.

Best for: solo business travel, airport transfers, date nights, quick point-to-point trips.

SUVs

A step up in space without going all the way to a stretch vehicle. SUVs generally seat 4 to 6 and hold noticeably more luggage than a sedan does, which is exactly why they’re the go-to for families, small groups flying in with bags, or executives who want more room but don’t want to show up looking flashy.

Best for: family airport transfers, small group travel, and corporate trips with luggage.

Stretch Limousines

This is the classic one — what people picture when the arrival matters as much as the ride itself. Proms, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, VIP nights out. Stretch limos usually seat 6 to 10 and come with the stuff people actually associate with the word “limo”: mood lighting, a privacy partition, and sometimes a small bar setup. It’s a niche vehicle by design, really. Nobody’s booking a stretch limo for a routine Tuesday commute.

Best for: weddings, prom, anniversaries, VIP nights out, and milestone celebrations.

Party Buses

For groups too big for a limo but who still want that shared, everyone’s-in-it-together energy—bachelor and bachelorette parties, birthday crawls, bigger wedding parties, and corporate outings— Depending on the vehicle, party buses hold anywhere from 15 to 30-plus passengers, with sound systems, dance space, and lighting that make the ride part of the event, not just a way to get there.

Best for: bachelor/bachelorette parties, group nights out, large wedding parties, and corporate events.

Sprinter Vans

For mid-sized groups that need more room than an SUV but don’t need—or want—party-bus energy, a Sprinter van in Manhattan is usually the right call. Mercedes Sprinters typically seat 10 to 14, and they’re built more around comfort than spectacle: leather captain’s chairs, individual charging ports, and a lot more headroom than a standard van gives you. That last part matters more than people expect once you’re an hour into city traffic.

Sprinters have pretty much become the default for a specific kind of trip—corporate shuttles between office sites, group airport transfers where splitting into two SUVs just doesn’t make sense, wedding parties moving between venues, and small conference groups that need to stick together without renting a full bus. Manhattan’s parking and loading restrictions make Sprinters a genuinely practical middle ground too: narrow enough to navigate the avenues and load at most curbs, roomy enough that a 12-person group doesn’t need two vehicles and two drivers trying to stay in sync all day.

Best for: corporate shuttles, group airport transfers, wedding party transportation, and mid-sized event groups.

If you’re coordinating a group that size, Empyralimousine’s Sprinter van is built around exactly this—chauffeured, flat-rate, and sized for groups that have outgrown an SUV but don’t need a full party bus.

Choose the Right Vehicle For You

VehicleTypical CapacityBest For
Sedan1–3Airport transfers, solo business travel
SUV4–6Families, small groups with luggage
Stretch Limo6–10Weddings, proms, VIP events
Sprinter Van10–14Corporate shuttles, group transfers, wedding parties
Party Bus15–30+Bachelor/bachelorette parties, large group nights out

Here’s a decent rule of thumb, honestly: let capacity drive the decision before aesthetics do. A group of eight squeezed into a stretch limo built for six is a worse experience than that same group spread out comfortably in a Sprinter—even if the limo photographs better for Instagram.

Why Empyralimousine

We run a full fleet across all five vehicle classes above, and every Manhattan trip is chauffeured, flat-rate, and built around how this city actually works—narrow streets, limited loading zones, and traffic that couldn’t care less about your flight time. Drivers are licensed and insured. Vehicles are kept to a standard where “nice, new, clean” is just the baseline, not something worth bragging about (see the reviews below). And bookings get matched to your actual group size and trip type, not whatever happens to be sitting free that day.

How to Book Sprinter Vans

  1. Request a quote. Send over your pickup location, date, group size, and vehicle preference—most people hear back within a few hours.
  2. Confirm your vehicle. Based on your group and trip type, you’ll get a recommendation (check the table above) plus a flat-rate price.
  3. Reserve with a deposit. This locks in the vehicle and driver for your exact time slot, so there’s no last-minute “sorry, we’re booked” surprise.
  4. Get pickup confirmation. You’ll get driver details and pickup timing ahead of time, and if a flight or event runs long, adjustments happen automatically.

Booking a few days ahead is ideal, but last-minute requests often get accommodated too—it just depends on what’s available that day.
